July 29, 2010
Columbus, OH -- Even as the Columbus Comets, 2010 National Conference Champions in the Women's Football Alliance (WFA), continue to ready for the 2010 WFA National Championship game, the wheels are in motion for the 2011 season.
In 2011, the Comets will continue the dedication to be the best in women's professional football and that takes hard work and athletes. "We have had interest already in tryouts for the 2011 season and this is just an early notification to potential players," noted Head Coach Hank Patterson.
"We anticipate having tryout dates in September/October 2010 and will certainly post the information on our web site well in advance," Patterson said. "While we have a cohesive team, we are always looking for women athletes in the central Ohio / tri-state area who are willing to perform in a team environment?. Our continued success is based on women who want to attend our practice sessions, learn the fundamentals of football and put forth 110% effort everyday," he continued.
2011 will be the Comets eighth season of play. It will be the teams third season in the Women's Football Alliance. The team is coming off a second undefeated year in the regular season play. Those potential players interested in forwarding their information can do so to Coach Patterson (hpatters@columbus.rr.com) with their name, e-mail address, telephone contact, height, weight, and previous athletic experience. Alternatively, the information can be forwarded to columbuscometscoach@yahoo.com and it will be kept in the tryout database.
